What We Do

DPUN (Direct Payments Users Network) is a peer support group for Disabled People mainly in Essex. DPUN is now a Community Interest Company.

The purpose of this group is to give Direct Payments, Individual/Personal Budgets Users a voice within the community and council level. The group is run by Direct Payments Users, and holds regular bi-monthly meetings in Essex. Disabled People who want information about Direct Payments or Individual/Personal Budgets can attend, and meet others who have many years of experience. The meetings are also attended by officers of Essex County Council, and other local Support Services.

We produce a newsletter which is sent to 2300 Disabled People each quarter. Also our Committee Members assist with the Social Care Workers Training Courses on Direct Payments, they give their valuable experience on having Direct Payments and Individual/Personal Budgets in their lives to the Council Workers on the courses.

DPUN also monitor the local DP’s Support Services for the County Council.
