Dee Frost - Resignation Statement

It is with regret that I tender my resignation as Director and co-chair. This is to come into force 6 months from the date of our AGM (August 3 2009)

I gave this 6 month deadline so that DPUN and all its members will have time to vote someone else in, and also be able to be here to help and support the person/s taking over my roles, to hopefully be able to guide and train/explain what is needed to be known and understood, the people as co-chair you would benefit from knowing, who and what they do.
I will still take an active role in DPUN, volunteering for giving cash payment training to ECC staff, Self Directed Support induction training of new staff, reporting on Care Quality Commission work, Skills for care, and matters arising from the board of Expert Voices Eastern. I will continue to be involved with National issues and will report from conferences and presentation work that I am involved in, or called upon to do for DPUN.

I will, if asked, still take an active part in monitoring of support services and in the One Stop Shop project that I originally instigated, but will no longer be involved in day to day issues like answering emails from disabled people needing support/informal advocacy etc, or with any matters pertaining to the office.

I will always publicise to anyone that I am in contact with, the very positive benefits of our peer support network.
My reasons for resigning are many, but basically I have found that it is no longer possible to give my full attention to the role because of family/personal matters and my expanding interests with the Self Directed Support and personalisation agendas on a local/regional/national level.

I hope as a User of services and a Personal Budget recipient to be in a position to have some influence within the social care and health fields, of user involvement. I want to try to help make a difference for all of us who have some sort of impairment.

The disability field is a passion of mine and I want to always be able to defend all impaired people and their human rights to be treated in a dignified, respectful manner.

Please be assured that I will always be a staunch defender for ALL disabled people and that although I will not be co-chair of DPUN, I will always try to be of support to DPUN and will continue to be a member of this fantastic support network.
I am sorry to be leaving but will always help DPUN if at all possible.
