Our meeting format is very important to us and our members as the Direct Payments Users Network (DPUN) Bi-Monthly Meetings are designed to get greater Service Users involvement. The meeting format is as follows:
10.30 a.m. - 11.30 a.m.: Closed Session, for Direct Payments (DP) users only. This session allows Service Users to talk in private without any Essex County Council staff or support services representatives being present. Any issues from Service Users can be brought up in main meeting without identifying the person who raised the issue.
11.30 a.m. - 12.00 midday: Advisory Session from Essex Personal Assistance Support Service (PASS) or Independent Living Advocacy Ltd (ILA) Essex.
12.00 - 1.00 p.m. Lunch and Networking, also a Duty Advocate is available to give one-to-one advice if required
1.00 p.m.: Main Meeting with Direct Payment Users, Council Officers & Support Services personnel present.
During lunchtime and at the end of the main meeting the Service Users can meet with real people from Essex County Council and Support Services staff to discuss their personal Direct Payment issues. We have had feedback from our members who say that this is most important to them as the individual contact makes them feel valued as a person, rather than a number.
