PLEASE FIGHT OUR SHELTERED HOUSING WARDENS

YOU ARE INVITED
TO A HISTORIC RALLY
on behalf of Sheltered Housing residents who face warden cuts
We will meet at TRAFALGAR SQUARE
at 3PM, Monday the 7th of December
and march from there to
10 DOWNING STREET
to hand in our NATIONAL PETITION at 4 PM
(If you do not wish to join the march, please meet us at No. 10!)

This is a non-partisan event: members of ALL major political parties have been invited to join us in putting aside party divisions and thinking instead of the needs of Sheltered Housing residents throughout the country!

If you cannot be there yourself, please see if anyone could attend on your behalf – this is the opportunity for “the silent voice” to be heard!

PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDAR and TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW!
Our march will be accompanied by a lone
piper, to show the world that we honour above
all the SURVIVORS of World War II, who made every sacrifice to preserve this country for the generations to come – when they need help in turn, should they be left to live in isolation and abandonment? (If you served in the Forces, please wear your medals!)

The march will be led in a wheelchair by a 92-year-old former nurse, Mrs. Jill Monkton, who heroically entered a burning flat to rescue her neighbour (and her cat) when
THERE WAS NO WARDEN ON SITE!

After paying for warden coverage for 25 years, she is now left without the coverage she was promised when she gave up her home to move into Sheltered Housing.

PLEASE JOIN US TO ADD YOUR VOICE TO HERS – THE NATIONAL PETITION SPEAKS FOR US ALL!

Our Campaign To No. 10 Downing Street --------------------------------------------- December the 7th was a very important day for all sheltered housing all over the country, as the Government are planning to do away with “Warden s” in Sheltered Housing Schemes. So a national Petition was started for everyone to sign, people from all over the country came to London to hand the Petition to Gordon Brown at No. 10 Downing Street (but unfortunately he was not there) There was a march from Trafalgar Square led by a Piper & drummer, to Downing Street, only 7 people where allowed to go to the door of No. 10., 1 from Somerset, 3 from Devon, and 4 other people It was also featured on “Regional TV” so here’s hoping it will be worth all “Our” hard work SARAH KINGSTON
